May is such a beautiful month in North Idaho and most of us are antsy to get outside and work on our yards and gardens.
Bonners Ferry is in Zone 6a, and although we have milder weather compared to Sandpoint and Coeur d Alene, we can get some hard frosts as late as June.
This winter has seemed like a long one but now that the weather is staying warm, we can finally get started planting outside.
We've already put spinach, kale, lettuce, and other cold weather plants in the ground as well as potatoes. Warmer weather plants like tomatoes, peppers, and herbs can be already started inside and transplanted soon. We also just started melons, cucumbers, pumpkins and zucchini inside.
Do your research and watch the forecast for freezing temps. Keep tarps and other covers on hand to protect from any freak frosts.
Here are also some great places to get garden plants and supplies:
Sugarplum Flora
Pro X Home Center
The Flower Patch at Three Mile
